How to add a contact/company to Hubspot
This article explains how to add a contact to Hubspot
Always add a contact first, then add their company details
If you do not have any contact details for a company you may be able to find them by following these steps:
- Go to LinkedIn and enter the company name
- Open the Company website and make a note of the URL
- Return to the company listing in Linkedin and click on People
- Identify the individual in the position likely to be the one you are looking for
- Once you identify an individual, go to Zoominfo.com and search for their name
- Without a paid account you can't get their full email address, however, it will partially show it.
- From the details that are available on the Zoom info web site, combine their name and the company URL and make up the email address
Note: An email address is required to add a contact info Hubspot
Adding a contact
- From the left-hand side menu in Hubspot select:
- CRM -> Contact
- Click on Create Contact
- Complete the following fields
- Email - This is a required field
- First name
- Last name
- Contact Owner - select your name
- Job Title - from LinkedIn
- Phone Number - if available
- Lifecycle stage - Select Lead
- Lead Status - Select New
- Linkedin URL - copy the address from their LinkedIn profile
- Company Name - This will create a Company by this name and you can add the company details next
- Click Create
- Open the new contact's card and complete any missing field that you know the details of
- Click on the Notes tab
- Click Create Note
- Add a note explaining who the contact is, what needs to happen with them
- Click the Create a To-do task to follow them up, if required.
- Click the Create Note button
Adding a Company
- From the contact that you just created check so see if a company has been created in the Companies box (top right)
- If not, or if there is an additional company to link this person to, click +Add button in the Companies box
- Click the Create New tab
- Complete the following details:
- Company domain name - remove the 'https:" and any "/'s"
- Company name
- Industry - Select Hospitality
- Type - Select Prospect
- Number of Venues - Enter the number of venues from their website
- City - Where is the company based? From their website
- State/Region - from their website
- Postal code - from their website
- Description - enter a short description of the company. From their LinkedIn page of web site
- Lifecycle stage - select Lead
- Lead status - Select New
- Click Create
- Click on the Note tab and include a note explaining why you have added this Company, how you found the company and any other relevant information that might help when someone makes a sales call to this company
