How to add a contact/company to Hubspot

This article explains how to add a contact to Hubspot

 

Always add a contact first, then add their company details

If you do not have any contact details for a company you may be able to find them by following these steps:

  1. Go to LinkedIn and enter the company name
  2. Open the Company website and make a note of the URL
  3. Return to the company listing in Linkedin and click on People
  4. Identify the individual in the position likely to be the one you are looking for
  5. Once you identify an individual, go to Zoominfo.com and search for their name
  6. Without a paid account you can't get their full email address, however, it will partially show it.
  7. From the details that are available on the Zoom info web site, combine their name and the company URL and make up the email address

Note: An email address is required to add a contact info Hubspot

Adding a contact

  1. From the left-hand side menu in Hubspot select:
    1. CRM -> Contact
  2. Click on Create Contact
  3. Complete the following fields
    1. Email - This is a required field
    2. First name
    3. Last name
    4. Contact Owner - select your name
    5. Job Title - from LinkedIn
    6. Phone Number - if available
    7. Lifecycle stage - Select Lead
    8. Lead Status - Select New
    9. Linkedin URL - copy the address from their LinkedIn profile
    10. Company Name - This will create a Company by this name and you can add the company details next
  4. Click Create
  5. Open the new contact's card and complete any missing field that you know the details of
  6. Click on the Notes tab
    1. Click Create Note
    2. Add a note explaining who the contact is, what needs to happen with them
    3. Click the Create a To-do task to follow them up, if required.
  7. Click the Create Note button

Adding a Company

  1. From the contact that you just created check so see if a company has been created in the Companies box (top right)
    1. If not, or if there is an additional company to link this person to, click +Add button in the Companies box
    2. Click the Create New tab
    3. Complete the following details:
      1. Company domain name - remove the 'https:" and any "/'s"
      2. Company name
      3. Industry - Select Hospitality
      4. Type - Select Prospect
      5. Number of Venues - Enter the number of venues from their website
      6. City - Where is the company based? From their website
      7. State/Region - from their website
      8. Postal code - from their website
      9. Description - enter a short description of the company. From their LinkedIn page of web site
      10. Lifecycle stage - select Lead
      11. Lead status - Select New
    4. Click Create
  2. Click on the Note tab and include a note explaining why you have added this Company, how you found the company and any other relevant information that might help when someone makes a sales call to this company
