Setting up your myGovID

What you need to start

To set up myGovID you will need:

• A smart device with :
  • IOS10 or later, or Android 7.0 or later
• An email address
  • It should NOT be a shared email address
• Be 13 years, or older

3 Easy Set Up Steps

1. Download the myGovID app
   
   

1. Open the myGovID app and follow the prompts
2. You will need to give your full name, date of birth and email address 
   
   
3. Prove who you are.
   
   • Standard myGovID
   • Enter details from two of your Australian Identity documents:
     • Drivers License or Learner Permit
     • Passport
     • Medicare Card

Set up

Follow the prompts and answer the questions, as requested:

• When you supply your email address a code verifying the email will be sent to you
  
  
• Add a password
• Complete the personal details

• Add your identification by scanning the appropriate documents
• Some details may need manual correction
