What is the Discuss Tab and where do I find it?
The Discuss tab can be found on the bank reconciliation screen for each bank account. Often your bookkeeper will send you a link to the bank account with questions, however, you can also navigate to the Discuss tab for a specific bank account by doing the following:
- From the Xero Dashboard
- Click on the blue Reconcile button for the bank account you want to review
- If there are any items that the bookkeeper has questions about you will see them in the Discuss Tab (see below)
- Your bookkeeper will ask questions or raise any issue regarding specific transactions in the Discuss tab. This reduces email traffic significantly and ensures that questions/answers are not missed.
How do I answer a question in the Discuss Tab?
To answer a question (or ask one of your own), do the following:
- Click in the Discuss text box
- Write your questions/answer
- Make sure that you include your name and the date (unfortunately Xero does not include these details automatically - yet !)
- Click the Save button.
- Make sure to click Save, otherwise your comment will not be saved.
How will my Bookkeeper know that I have added comments to the Discuss Tab?
There is no need to let your Bookkeeper know that you have responded to items in the Discuss Tab. They will see this the next time they are in you Xero account and will action them then.
